Ephesians 1 Part 1

Jun 9, 2025    Pastor Spencer Fusselman

In a world that wrestles with truth and identity, you have been called to a higher standard, a ‘saint,’ not as one who prioritizes the fleeting comfort this world offers, but as a warrior for Christ, armed with a clear understanding of your Identity. Your true identity is not defined by the reflection in the mirror, the title on your desk, or the temporary afflictions you face, but by the unshakable truth of God's Word. You are a saint—a holy one set apart for God's divine purpose —and an adopted child of the Most High King. This adoption isn't symbolic; it grants you the full rights and authority of the royal family, making you an ambassador on "Battleground Earth."

Before the foundation of the world, God foreknew you. He did not have to wait for you to experience your life to fully know you and "predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will" (Ephesians 1:5, NKJV). How He accomplished this is one of the Bible's greatest mysteries, but it is one that reveals His infinite nature. Yet, as Proverbs 25:2 states, "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter". As sons and daughters of the King, you are invited to seek Him within these divine mysteries. The fact that our limited human comprehension cannot fully grasp a God who exists outside of space and time is precisely what makes Him worthy of our worship. This is the bedrock of your security: a God so vast He created the world with a word is infinitely bigger than your problems, your temptations, and your addictions. Therefore, do not walk in despair, but take every deceptive thought captive.
