Truth VS. Comfort
Our identity in Christ is fundamental to understanding our purpose in life. Ephesians describes us as God's workmanship or masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus for good works prepared beforehand. This identity can be understood through two complementary perspectives: we are both workmen (craftsmen) and soldiers in Christ's service. The book of Ephesians outlines our spiritual blessings - our 'heavenly bank account' - which includes adoption, redemption, forgiveness, wisdom, and citizenship. These blessings form our spiritual identity and equip us for our mission. As Christian soldiers, we have a clear operations order: understanding our heavenly identity, fulfilling our mission to unify the church and make disciples, walking worthy of our calling, utilizing the full armor of God, and praying in the Spirit. As workmen, we are called to be specialists in doing good works that counter evil in the world. Each person has a unique calling and set of spiritual gifts designed to contribute to the body of Christ in harmony with others. By discovering our unique mission, assessing our spiritual gifts, renewing our minds, and taking action in service, we can fulfill God's purpose for our lives.
